THE NOT-SO LITTLE BAKERY

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

I’ve been running this blog for exactly a year now and what better way to celebrate than with a blog post to share one of my favourite bakeries in Edinburgh. This family-run bakery, located in South Queensferry, will melt your heart, like butter on a fresh scone.

Speaking of scones, I recently made my own batch for the first time after being inspired by these beauties.

and the views are just breathtaking. A dreary day in Scotland can be just as, if not more, beautiful than a hot summers day.

But let’s get back to the food.

Avocado Spinach Salmon Toast £8.50

I got the Avocado, Spinach, Salmon Toast, which came with a side of warm honey. I was surprised how well the honey went with this. I wouldn’t have thought to pair salmon and honey but be careful not to pour all of it in one go as the sweetness can really overpower the savoury-ness from the salmon.

Also, the portions sizes were so generous! This dish had everything: sweet, savoury and hint of tanginess.

All freshly baked on the premises by Arfa and her team *drool*

The cakes were running out fast, but I managed to get a quick snap before they disappeared.

The Little Bakery, however, is much more than a bakery. It’s a hub for a thriving community, bringing everyone together through their love of good quality home bakes. Their most recent activity is weekly Yoga and before that was baking lessons you can take with your wee one. How cool is that? If you don’t want to mess up your own kitchen teaching the wains how to bake, just do it in The Little Bakery, where you don’t have to worry about not having enough eggs.

The overall bill amounted to £16, excluding any drinks. Considering the generous portions and great flavours, I’d say this price was justified.
