FOR THE GRAM

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

Summer is here! and o.m.g.  how nice has the weather been recently? I for one was not ready for this heat and ended up wearing a thick jumper on the hottest day.

I’ve been wanting to try Grams ever since I came across their Instagram page which looked so aesthetic.

It’s right opposite Haymarket station and so easy to get to, this café was cute and intimate, I didn’t, however, appreciate the metal benches used as seats; normal chairs would do, you know? it felt as though I was sitting on an air vent. And DO NOT by any circumstances, take the window seat when the sun is glaring through. I was melting.

BUT,  I overcame these initial perceptions when the food arrived. Sitting in the heat with a jumper on became worth it and you’ll see why.

Avocado on toast £5.5 with smoked salmon for an extra £2.50

This sounded basic but it every ingredient was elevated and worked so well together. The avocado mixture was beautiful and tangy and just cooled the smokey salmon. All topped on a freshly made sourdough bread. The extra bits of garnishing on top really made it refreshing and pretty.

The Beats £6.50 with poached eggs for an extra £2

The precision on this plate was faultless. Every component so well thought out and not only did it look good, it tastes bloody brilliant. The beetroot tahini sauce was subtle but effective and the feta wasn’t too overpowering. A perfect balance of flavours. A nice change from the Weetabix I’ve been having every day.

Latte and Cappuccino £2.70 each

I really enjoyed this little breakfast date and there are so many more items on the menu that look so mouthwatering, I cannot wait to try, like their pancakes and smoothie bowls?!

Not only is this an eating in café but they also provide a healthy meal prep service. If you work full time and hardly get any time to cook, this would be ideal for you. I, on the other hand, live with a huge family where someone is always making something and our fridge is never short of food (Alhamdulillah)

I was really impressed with the variety and flexibility of the menu as you can easily avoid the meats, gluten and dairy.

The overall bill amounted to £21.90 which worked out to be £10.95 each. I would say this was justified with the portions, taste and service.
