I must be the worst person to ever blog, because of the, err, lack of blogging. But the truth is I’ve started a new diet. That’s right, all the eating out had finally gotten to my waistline and I seriously had to do something about that. Anyways, I’ve started a new diet called the Ketogenic diet which was worked wonders for me (it’s a low carb: high-fat diet). So naturally, after losing 5lb this week I decided to celebrate with lots of carbs. It seemed fitting to dine at an Italian restaurant i.e. Bella Italia.
Now, I know there aren’t any halal meat options at Bella Italia, but I was more in the veggie/ fish mood and lots of carbs, obviously.
Gamberi £6.99
Starter no.1 lacked carbs but I like the sound of prawns being cooked in garlic and chilli butter. However, I wasn’t a fan of the skins. The texture for me was a no, it was crispy and then soft inside. It didn’t seem edible, but it was… it just wasn’t for me.
Mozzarella Carrozza (V/GF) £5.99
Starter no.2, still not enough carbs… but the cheese was delish. The bed of salsa was tangy and just the right amount to make an impact.
Risotto Pollo Funghi (swapped the chicken for king praws) £12.99
Yess, gimme the carbs. This is what I am talking about! I was in the mood for a creamy risotto. This dish lacked salt and pepper I felt and the Pachino tomatoes were slightly overpowering. But still a good tasting risotto.
Garlic mushroom and green chilli Pizza £11.59
My food buddy created their own pizza and well, it did taste better than it looked. I’m totally not judging them for wanting mushrooms on their pizza. Each to their own eh? It does look like a bit of the crust had fallen off, don’t know how that happened. But it was a tasty pizza… after I picked the mushroom off. Don’t get me wrong, I loved mushroom in the risotto, just not on a pizza. It literally has nothing but squidgy-ness to offer.
The overall bill amounted to £43.34, I just realised now that I could have used my student discount and gotten up to 50% off!!! Damnit. I wouldn’t say I was incredibly impressed with the meal, it wasn’t great and it wasn’t bad. I was just happier I had got to eat carbs after cutting them out for a full week.
